Hello all! As a "hidden" update which has not been announced on the main page of RuneScape, the German version of RuneScape is now open to everyone after three weeks in the Closed Beta stage. Therefore, our editor has written a short article about the German version of RuneScape. After you've read it, feel free to comment the article and discuss the German version of RuneScape in this topic.

We would also like to remind you that everyone can write their own article for the Herald, as mentioned in this announcement. :)

Correction the German version was not released to the public on the 7th of March. It was released in February and has been released for more then a week maybe two or three. Will edit if find anything else not true.

You are confusing two release dates:

The German Closed Beta release was on February 14th. A Closed Beta is a Beta (not completed) version which is only available to invited players. If you weren't invited by Jagex, you could not play the German version.

The German Open Beta release was yesterday, on March 7th. An Open Beta is still not the completed version, but everyone may try it whether they speak german or not.

Everything written on the server isn't turned into german, if someone PMs you in English or you write English in the chat, it will just appear normally. Only the interface has been translated, including all NPCs that are talking (even commands such as "wave:" and "red:" have been changed).

Polaki wrote:I think they shouldnt make german servers. Just have a language converter.
If you're talking about an automatic translator, then there are absolutely no automatic translator that works perfectly. Try translating a long text to German, back to English, to Spanish and back again, and you'll see that it will be quite hard to read :p

Also, having an option to change the interface to German wouldn't be the same thing as having separate german servers. If you were playing a German game and you could use an English interface, but most people still spoke German, the English interface would be pretty useless since all items and skills and everything would have other names in German ;)

The point of the servers isn't for germans who can't speak good english but more of a server made for a specific community of people so they can play and chat with thier countrymen.

No offence, but I didnt enjoy the article at all. Its poorly written and didnt contain any usefull information. It was also way too short. :?

The German server sounds like a great thing though. Just think if you were German? Wouldnt you be excited? I would be :)

It is alot of strain on one person to be the only person writing articales but there is a way to fix it. Other people can write articales. Ya nm Im sorry guys Ill stop messing around.
