If you see someone breaking these rules, please use the report button to report the post. Also, please respect other people. They are human, just like you.Click here for a guide on reporting bad posts.
1. Use common sense and keep the forums clean and friendlyWe want the forum's atmosphere to be as friendly as possible, but to do this,
you have to help us doing so. So remember, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. This also includes media. Do not post any pictures or videos that contain vulgar language or images. If you follow this very basic rule, it is unlikely that you will need to read the rest of our rules. You should, however, read each rules' header to make sure you haven't missed anything
2. Post in the correct sectionAlways try to find the best section when you make a new topic (do not buy items in the skills forum or ask RuneScape related questions in the Submissions forums). If you are in doubt, try finding a relevant forum, don't make the same post in multiple forums.
If a topic is in the wrong forum, it will be moved. We will not ban users because of this unless it happens repeatedly and the user evidently make topics in the wrong forums. Also, thread hijacking is now allowed (Example: If person A is selling something, person B may not post selling that item at lower price.)
3. Spamming / Irritating posting styleDo not post pointless or annoying messages and avoid making irrelevant or stupid posts that don't relate to the topic. Your post should also contain more than one single word, this is a
discussion forum and not a chatroom.
Refrain from posting entire messages using ALL CAPS,
bold,
underlined,
italic, other colours than the standard text colour and large text. This kind of formatting should only be used to emphasize words or statements, or in headers if you are making a long post.
Also, please do not reply "A mod will close this..." or "This is spamming!" or anything similar; simply report the post and a moderator will take care of the post. Lastly, do not use many smilies in a row, one smiley is usually enough
4. Read the stickiesRemember to check out the stickies and announcements at the top of each forums' topic lists.
5. Double postingPosting twice in a row without another user's post separating them may not be done if your last post was made recently. If you wish to add something to your post, use the edit button to edit your existing post.
6. Bumping dead / outdated topicsAvoid posting in topics that are older than 2 weeks unless you are the topic author and wish to continue keeping the topic alive or you are contributing to the topic by posting contstructive and useful posts. However, do not post if it was question that has been answered or the topic is located in the marketplace (people are usually not buying/selling items 2 weeks after they've announced it). Do not make posts purely to bump an old topic, even if you are the author. Instead, you are encouraged to post something that adds to the topic.
Posting in stickies and announcements is allowed, and we do not consider it as bumping old topics. Also, if it is a topic that can still be discussed further, it is OK to reply to it.
If a topic has been locked, the topic starter may report his own topic and ask to get it reopened (reporting posts is the quickest way to get a moderator's attention).
7. SignaturesImages in the signatures may NOT be wider than 600 pixels. Text in your signature may be wider, but the total signature height including images and text should not be more than 300 pixels high.
8. Don't begDon't beg asking for free money or runescape items. This will only annoy fellow forum users and it is unlikely that you will get anything. This rule also applies if you have been hacked, scammed or banned. In the latter case, you should send a ban appeal to RuneScape, there is nothing we can do with it.
All begging will be removed from the forums.9. Do not advertiseDo not advertise other web sites. Clans can be advertised in the clans forums, but they must have a visible link back to Global RuneScape.
All advertising will be removed. New users joining purely to advertise their site will be permanently banned.10. Discussing topics breaking the RuneScape rulesHacking, scamming or cheating talk is not allowed. Posting about any macro or auto programs, such as autominers and autotalkers is not allowed either. This rule also includes account trading and real-world trading.
Breaking this rule will usually lead to a permanent ban. If it has merely been mentioned, the user will receive a warning.11. ScammingDo not try to scam people, asking for their username or password. Also, no runescape-related software may be posted (except official software).
Users caught scamming fellow forum users will be permanently banned.12. Hacking related activitiesAll hacking related activities are strictly forbidden. This includes trying to access other computers, servers, accounts or networks, attempting to penetrate our or other security measures. Cracking is also strictly prohibited.
Breaking this rule will lead to a permanent ban.13. Sexually oriented / Pornographic materialAll posts with sexually oriented, pornographic material and nudity will be immediately deleted.
Breaking this rule will lead to a permanent ban.14. Name changesMembers do not have the possibility to change their own names. The administrators will only modify a member's name on request if it only involves an alteration to the capitalization, spelling or numbers in the name. Major changes will not be done unless a good reason is provided. This may include changing the name because another member has a similar name that may cause confusion, or the members wishes to use his/her real name or RuneScape name instead of a pseudonym. To enquire about name changes, or to request a name change, please send a personal message to an administrator.
15. Breaking US / International lawsIllegal activies are not allowed on these forums, and may lead to a permanent ban. This includes giving away illegal serial keys, key generators and cracks to software.
16. Do NOT ask to be staffAll staff are hand picked by the current staff. If you want to be staff then you need to show us. Be active, post smart and helpful posts, and report anything that needs moderation.
If you ask to be on staff you will probably not get it. This shows that you just want to be staff for the sake of being on the staff, and you will have a smaller chance of being staff in the future.17. Do NOT impersonate/act like staffThere is a report button for a reason. If an old topic has been bumped don't post saying "This is an old topic. Mods please lock this". That just adds to the spam. All you need to do is report it. Also, do not tell someone they are spamming.
If you break this rule it will count as a spam violation. You will also have a smaller chance of being staff in the future.-------------------------
All guides that are submitted and added to Global RuneScape will become Global RuneScape's property. We reserve the right to modify the guide, or add new things to it.-------------------------
If you register a new account after you have been banned, and break any of the rules only once, you will be PERMANENTLY banned from the whole site.
